Call of the Valley – Pristine Pahalgam

Pahalgam…..here we come!!

It is a small little sleepy town that is bursting with tourists in the months of Apr to Jun.

Located on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7200 ft, Pahalgam is a very popular tourist destination of Jammu & Kashmir.

Originally called ‘Hungun Valley’….the name Betaab was adapted after the shooting of movie Betaab starring Sunny Deol & Amrita Singh, that took place here

Chandanwari (2,895 m), is 16 km from Pahalgam, which is the starting point for the holy Amarnath Yatra.

Located 12 km from Pahalgam, Aru Valley is another touristic place upstream Lidder river

Baisaran – once a hunting ground of rulers & Britishers; is a medow located 5 km uphill from Pahalgam town

A major tourist place to visit in Pahalgam, a voyage to the meadow is truly a treat for the senses

The dense pine forest & the green carpet of the medows provides a contrasting hue to snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains.

Mamaleshwar Temple – dated back to AD 400, this ancient temple of Lord Shiva has a freshwater spring originating below the sanctum sanctorum.
