Vagchauda – Beauty…Unexplored !

Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) is a union territory in Western India. It is composed of two separate geographical entities – Dadra surrounded by Gujarat and Nagar Haveli wedged between Maharashtra and Gujarat….

The northeast and east of DNH is surrounded by ranges of Sahyadri mountains (Western Ghats)….

…. whereas the central alluvial region of the land is almost plain and the soil is fertile and rich for agriculture…

Dadra and Nagar Haveli is in the middle of the undulating watershed of the Daman Ganga River….

…..which flows through Nagar Haveli and later forms the short southern border of Dadra…

Damanganga rises in the ghat and discharges itself in the Arabian Sea at the port of Daman after crossing Dadra and Nagar Haveli….

The waters of Damanganga are dammed at Madhubani, around 15 km from Silvasa, the capital city of DNH….

…the backwaters of which creates a huge lake named Dudhani…..

Due to its proximity from both Mumbai & Surat; Dudhani has emerged as a popular tourist destination in the recent past….

It offers an unforgettable experience of boating over the calm waters of the reservior….

However, approx 10 km before Dudhani, hidden in the hills, is an unexplored location….

Located on the other bank of the Dudhani reservior, is the hidden gem of DNH ….

Vagchauda offers the same experince as that of Dudhani, but in an environment of no hustle bustle…..

Thankfully, the Govenment has banned any fuel propelled boats in the reservoir……

…sparing this beauty from being polluted !

The ride in the shikaras on the calm waters of the lake……

……offers no less experience than that of the Dal lake (albeit minus the chill in the air) …..

It is heard that the island in the middle of the reservior is being developed into a huge garden……

….which I am sure would be a great boon for the tourism in this area & the employment for the locals….

As the sun starts winding up its journey…..

…..& spreads its last rays before hiding behind the hills……

…this amazing place, transforms itself into a mesmerising poetry, painted with the magical hue on the canvas of its water …..

….a poetry that leaves us spellbound…..a song that mystifies the mind with its awe….. & a symphony that calms the soul !!! Vagchauda…..truly a beauty…..unexplored !
